Every great product starts with a personal frustration. Here is how NoScroll went from one developer's coping mechanism to the most downloaded shorts and reels blocker on the internet.
Before NoScroll, all productivity apps were focused on one thing: blocking. Some focused on technical blocking, some on psychology, and some on both. But no app was actually working on the root cause of the problem.
A note from Pritam Pawade (Founder):
I was so addicted to reels that I was watching shorts even during a 2-second wait for a webpage to load, or for something that takes a short moment. And then I'd waste 15 to 30 minutes scrolling. Every time I snapped out of it, I felt like a zombie who lost focus, context, and the ability to concentrate again.
After watching reels, I wasn't just wasting time. I was feeling stressed, exhausted, and facing genuine difficulty focusing on my work. Literally wasting hours without knowing what was happening to me.
Then I decided to build something useful for myself. I did research for almost 1.5 years and figured out the problem isn't social media apps, the actual problem lies in the content they serve. I built an app called NoSwipe and used it for myself for more than 2 months.
During that time, many universities and researchers were publishing their studies on shorts and reels. All of them had one common conclusion: it is frying our brain cells, reducing our attention span, and causing long-term memory issues.
NoScroll was never a product to be sold for profit. It was, and still is, a solution to a genuine problem every smartphone user is facing.
Curizic leads the way while competitors can only copy our innovations. Our vision is original, focused on problem-solving rather than copying someone and providing blocker features.
NoScroll uses Accessibility Service, a powerful Android permission that could easily be used to collect data. But from day one, a conscious and irreversible decision was made: NoScroll will remain a privacy-first app. Period.
Developing and maintaining any app is not easy, and definitely not cheap, especially when you do it for a living. Here is the unfiltered truth about how NoScroll sustains itself while keeping your privacy intact.
Other apps copied NoScroll a lot, and they still do. NoScroll is now a benchmark for every productivity app out there. We feel proud: 1.5 years of research didn't go to waste. Users are now experiencing true productivity apps that actually help them stay productive.
Join hundreds of thousands of users who have already taken back control of their attention with NoScroll — the original shorts and reels blocker.
